Teenager Kills Her Mother

A juvenile girl has been arrested and charged with murdering her own mother.

After her mother's decomposing body was discovered on the side of the road days after she reported her missing in the Free State, South Africa, the 18-year-old teen was arrested. 

Brigadier Motantsi Makhele, a spokesman for the Free State police, said in a statement on Friday, October 29, that the teenager's 19-year-old boyfriend has also been arrested.

On Tuesday, October 19th, Makhele stated the adolescent filed a missing persons report. Sharon Fisher, her 46-year-old mother, was last seen alive on October 14, she allegedly informed authorities.

The mother's deteriorated body was discovered near the R721 Kroonstad/Vredefort road on Sunday, October 24.

"Her arrest stemmed from the opening of an inquiry docket following the finding of her 46-year-old mother's body. "Her decaying body, which could not be identified at the time of finding, was brought to the State mortuary, where the family later assisted with identification," Makhele added.

"As a result of the investigation, the dead was linked to a reported missing person file filed by her 18-year-old daughter on Tuesday, October 19, 2021. On Thursday, October 14, 2021, she claimed to have seen her mother alive for the last time. As part of the ongoing inquiry, a post mortem was performed, and the cause of death was confirmed to be strangling.

"A murder case was added to the inquest docket. The daughter was eventually discovered to be involved, based on evidence gathered at her home in Brentpark, Kroonstad, during the investigation.

"On Wednesday, October 27, 2021, she was arrested. On the same day, the members tracked out her 19-year-old boyfriend, who lives in Kroonstad's Morewag neighborhood. He may have been involved in this case as well," he noted.

On Friday, October 29, 2021, the two appeared in Kroonstad Magistrates' Court, where they were charged with murder.
