Super Eagles's Victor Osimhen Wins African Footballer of the Year [Photos]

Victor Osimhen, the hero of the Super Eagles, was named the African Footballer of the Year at the 2023 CAF award.

On Monday, December 11, the Napoli attacker defeated Egyptian forward Mohamed Salah and Moroccan forward Achraf Hakimi to earn the award.

Nigeria's 24-year-long quest for Africa's greatest individual honor has now come to an end with Osimhen's victory. The last Nigerian to receive the prize was the legendary Kanu Nwankwo, and that was back in 1999.

The Nigerian international helped Napoli win their first Serie A championship in thirty-three years by scoring 26 goals in 32 games to rank as the League's top scorer.

Last season, Napoli also advanced to the quarterfinals of the Champions League, which was the greatest finish for the Partenopei in the top European competition.
