A tragic event has occurred in Delta State's Sapele Local Government Area, where a 23-year-old man named Success is accused of using a cutlass to fatally chop his father. The incident took place in the Sapele neighborhood of Amukpe on Sunday, January 12, 2025.
According to reports, the suspect attacked his father after the latter refused to give him N5000. The wounded father was taken to the hospital right away for treatment, but he passed away from his injurues on Monday, January 13.
SP Bright Edafe, a spokesman for the Delta State Police, confirmed the event and said the suspect has been taken into custody.
"The incident occurred on Sunday, but the father died today. Success is in custody," SP Edafe said.
The community is in shock as a result of the unfortunate tragedy, with locals expressing astonishment and sadness. To ascertain the complete circumstances surrounding the case, investigations are still underway.
