"Why I Featured My Father, King Sunny Ade in My Movie" - Toyin Abraham Gives Surprising Revelation

The inclusion of renowned juju musician King Sunny Ade in Toyin Abraham's most recent blockbuster, Alakada: Bad and Boujee, has been revealed as a creative decision meant to give the film depth and authenticity. The film, which debuted in cinemas on December 20, features a star-studded cast that includes Portable, Isbae U, and Opeyemi Famakin.

Toyin Abraham stated in an interview with Nollywood on Radio that she chose to include Sunny Ade because she wanted to create an unique and unforgettable cinematic experience.

“I wanted a different feel, something real, especially as we portrayed Madam Sharon, a wealthy character throwing a lavish party,” Abraham shared. She emphasized her goal of surprising viewers with something "unbelievable," to set her film apart from others.

Despite the difficulties involved, Abraham referred to working with the music legend as one of the pleasures of her 2024. “Sunny Ade is such a father. Though he was paid, it wasn’t about the money. He was professional and supportive,” she added.

The film, the fifth installment in the Alakada series, has grossed over ₦400 million since its release, further cementing Abraham’s reputation as a Nollywood powerhouse.

Piracy Warning Following Cinema Incident

Meanwhile, Abraham addressed the issue of piracy after catching a fan recording the movie during a cinema screening. In a post on her X page, the actress disclosed that the individual deleted the footage and was released without consequences.

However, she issued a firm warning: “If anyone is caught again, I won’t intervene. Please stop recording; I am so tired.”

The actress pleaded with fans to support her work by avoiding piracy, ensuring the film’s continued success in theaters nationwide.
