Mercy Aigbe, a Nollywood actress, and other internet users have responded to a photo of former. Nigerian President Olusegun Obasanjo kneeling and bowing before the new Olu of Warri, Ogiame Atuwatse III, that has been circulating online.
At his coronation thanksgiving service in Warri earlier today, Olusegun Obasanjo paid homage to the Olu of Warri, Ogiame Atuwatse III.
Despite their age difference, Obasanjo kneeled before the 37-year-old new monarch, eliciting internet comments.
Meanwhile, Obasanjo is not the first person to pay such homage to a reverend monarch.
In March 2020, the 84-year-old former president was photographed prostrating for a year in Ago-Oka, Abeokuta, Ogun State, where he also paid homage to the new monarch, 59-year-old Agura of Gbagura.
Mercy Aigbe and other social media users praised Obasanjo for the photo, stating that nothing surpasses tradition.
