Independence Day: United States Celebrates Nigeria and Promises On Collaboration

 
US Secretary of State Antony Blinken has expressed his best wishes to the Nigerian people On the 61st anniversary of Nigeria's independence, .
The US government, according to Blinken, would continue to help Nigeria's efforts to combat terrorism, insecurity, and strengthen health systems.
He stated that the two countries' strong alliance is built on a shared dedication to democracy, diversity, and entrepreneurship.
On Friday, Temitayo Famutimi, the Information Specialist Public Affairs Section (PAS) of the US Consulate General, published a statement.
The statement read in part, “As your partner, we’ll continue to support Nigerian efforts to counter terrorism and insecurity, improve health systems, strengthen democratic institutions, promote respect for human rights, and bolster economic growth, including through bilateral trade and investment.

“We value Nigerian leadership on issues including African peace and security, ending the COVID-19 pandemic and building back a more inclusive economy, and reducing greenhouse emissions and creating a clean energy future.

“The United States looks forward to expanding our relationship over the coming year and advancing our mutual interests.”

Meanwhile, despite agitations for secession in some parts of the country. President Muhammadu Buhari has reaffirmed his commitment to keeping Nigeria together.

This was said in a speech he gave on Thursday night at the Banquet Hall, Presidential Villa, Abuja, at the conclusion of the Nigeria@60 celebration.
President Buhari stated in his speech that his government would continue to provide an enabling atmosphere for Nigerians to realize their aspirations, "while we count on their cooperation to make Nigeria a better place for all."
