Burna Boy’s Sister Throws Shade At Davido For Calling Her Brother A ‘New Cat’ [Video]

Nissi, the sister of well-known Nigerian artist Burna Boy, takes a swipe at Davido for referring to her brother as a "new cat" in the industry.

Recall that Davido made a big deal out of his claim that he and Wizkid were responsible for establishing Afrobeat music's worldwide appeal before other musicians, whom he referred to as "new cats," joined the movement.

He noted that the foundation he and Wizkid built in their formative years has benefited Grammy-winning musician Burna Boy as well as other new-school artists like Rema, Fireboy, Asake, and Mayorkun.

His words, “Everybody knows now. I was one of the first. I and Wizkid were one of the first young artists to blow up and it feels good seeing new cats like Burna Boy, Rema, Fireboy, Mayorkun, you know a lot of new cats coming, killing it, Asake who was on my album.

“So, yes, I think the future of Afrobeat is in good hands.”

His remarks caused a tremendous uproar online, leading to a discussion regarding how long Burna Boy has been in the music business and if it is proper to refer to him as a "new artiste."

Burna Boy's sister Nissi posted a video from one of her brother's sold-out performances abroad to her Instagram account with the remark, "New cats are facing their hustle," in apparent response to the discussion around the term "new cat."
