Bail has been granted for singer Naira Marley and his associate, Sam Larry. A Magistrate court in Yaba issued them bail in the amount of N20 million with three responsible sureties in a decision made this morning, November 6.
The court ordered them to turn in their foreign passports and be present every week at the State Criminal Investigation Department (CID) as part of their bail requirements. They are also to provide three sureties in like sum.
Additionally, the presiding magistrate issued a warning, stating that any efforts to get in touch with her personally will be noted and perhaps made public during open court sessions.
Remember how Naira Marley and Sam Larry were placed under arrest by the police after being charged with assaulting the late musician Mohbad? After returning to Nigeria, both guys were taken into custody. On October 4, 2023, a magistrate court in Yaba, Lagos State, remanded them in arrest due to accusations that they had harassed the late Mohbad, a former Marlian Music signee.
Sam Larry and Naira Marley sued the police and magistrate last Monday for their ongoing detention. The suit was filed before the Federal High Court in Lagos and named the police and magistrate as defendants, and are seeking N20m each as damages.
