Nigerian Man Sets To Break Guinness World Record For Longest Marathon Ironing

 
 

On Monday, April 22, 2024, Onele, an Ebonyi native, set out to break an incredible record. Onele, who is presently enrolled at Nnamdi Azikiwe University in Awka, Anambra State, to pursue an M.Sc. in electrical engineering, is about to try to set a record for the longest marathon ironing session.

Onele told reporters in Abakaliki that he had been given the go-ahead by Guinness to attempt the marathon ironing attempt, but that he would need to follow certain rigorous criteria. He has been an ironing enthusiast since he was a young child and wants to break the records held by British Garric Standard and Australian Huston.

"One of the rules says I have 30 seconds to pick materials. So, whenever I finish ironing a material, I have 30 seconds to pick up another material and iron. And for the rest break, I have just 5 minutes to rest after one hour," Onele explained.

Guinness accepted Onele's application to attempt the world record after extensive research and a protracted application process, showing the success of his perseverance. He is now determined to adhere to the rules exactly in order to leave his mark on the history books.

If Onele is successful, he will set a new record for the longest marathon ironing by a human in the Guinness World Record, showing his engineering prowess and will to accomplish remarkable things.
