In an effort to combat inflation, the Federal Government has resumed providing conditional direct cash transfers, according to Finance Minister Wale Edun. With the goal of raising living conditions, 75 million Nigerians—or 15 million households—will receive a payment of N75,000.
During a cabinet briefing commemorating President Bola Tinubu's first year in office, Edun said that the payments will be issued digitally in order to maintain efficiency and openness. To receive the payments, beneficiaries must have a mobile wallet, an account number, or a National Identity Number.
Mobile network operators have been recruited to speed up the procedure. This program comes after earlier social investment initiatives were halted due to alleged misappropriation of funds.
