According to reports, Olori Naomi Silekunola Ogunwusi, the estranged wife of Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, the Ooni of Ife, was hospitalized after collapsing following her arrest.
In order to provide food for the underprivileged, the former Queen partnered with Oriyomi Hamzat's Agidigbo 88.7 FM in Ibadan to organize a charity event. Sadly, the incident resulted in a stampede that killed more than thirty-two youngsters. The state governor reassured the public that continued efforts would be made to support the relatives of the victims and stop other deaths.
Olori Naomi was arrested by the police after the event, where she reportedly passed out and was taken to a hospital for treatment.
In response to the catastrophe, the Ooni of Ife showed solidarity with Olori Naomi and sent his sympathies to the impacted family. He praised her character and noted her history of organizing similar charitable events during her time as Queen.
This incident comes nearly two years after Olori Naomi announced her separation from the monarch in December 2022. In her statement, she revealed her decision to leave the palace after three years of marriage. Reflecting on her marriage, she acknowledged both the sweet and bitter moments and shared that her innocence and naivety made it difficult for her to navigate palace life. Since then, she has ruled out any possibility of returning, particularly as the monarch now has six wives.
