Nollywood actress Faithia Williams has openly criticized Funke Akindele, her colleague, for allegedly blocking her on Instagram after they had a fall out.
The animosity between them became evident after it was revealed that the ex-friends had unfollowed one another on Instagram, causing a flurry of online rumors. According to sources, the conflict began when Faithia allegedly missed Funke's film debut in favor of Mercy Aigbe's. This was seen as a response to Funke not attending Faithia's father's burial despite receiving an invitation.
Faithia addressed the matter head-on on her TikTok page, declaring that Funke is not her god and that the alleged petty act did not bother her. She made it apparent that Funke's actions, which she interpreted as a jab at their once-close friendship, did not affect her.
Their fallout is surprising because just a year ago, Faithia was one of Funke's biggest fans, promoting her movie A Tribe Called Judah through several pieces of content.
Funke's history of disputes with colleagues, especially over backing her rivals, is further exacerbated by this public confrontation. Notably, a long-running conflict between Funke and actress Iyabo Ojo started when Iyabo publicly chastised Funke over a blogger's attack on Toyin Abraham's film The Ghost and the Tout. Nevertheless, the two actresses made amends in 2022 during the Africa Magic Viewers Choice Awards, putting aside their disagreements and exchanging cordial greetings.
Funke and Toyin Abraham also had a well-known feud, but within the past year, the two have moved past their differences. Funke returned the favor by celebrating Toyin's birthday. Toyin put an end to reports that the two were still at odds by attending Funke's film debut.
Even after they reconciled, there are still accusations circulating regarding Funke's purported involvement in casting decisions, including allegations that she coerced media tycoon Mo Abudu into replacing Toyin Abraham in Chief Daddy with Kate Henshaw. Furthermore, it is believed that Funke attempted to coerce Mo into removing actress Beverly Osu from a movie, but experienced actress Joke Silva reportedly defused the situation.
According to these sources, Funke Akindele is at the heart of multiple high-profile disputes, highlighting continued difficulties in the Nollywood industry.
