The trial of popular actor James Olarewaju aka Baba Ijesha, who is charged with six counts of child defilement, including allegations of indecent treatment of a child, sexual assault, attempted sexual assault by penetration, and sexual assault by penetration, has taken a new turn following claims that a Closed Circuit Television (CCTV) recording that is part of the case has been tampered with.
Engr. Adeleke Lawrence, a defense witness and specialist in CCTV installation and maintenance, made the assertion on Thursday February 17 before an Ikeja Domestic Violence and Sexual Offences Court.
Following the request of defence counsel, Babatunde Ogala, two video recordings of Baba Ijesha were aired during resumed proceedings on Thursday February 17. (SAN).
The defendant was shown seated on a sofa with the victim in the first footage. In the clip, which had no audio, two men and a lady walked out.
Asked of his opinion on what he saw, the witness said: “The gentleman and the lady appeared to be acting the way they were asked to do.”
