Lateef, who has been married to Mo Bimpe for nearly four years, expressed admiration for his wife’s strength in dealing with the negativity.
“My wife and I have received a lot of trolling. Recently, someone called her barren on social media. She would always show it to me and say she would be all right,” he said, adding that these hurtful comments have tested their resilience as a couple.
The actor also talked about his early Nollywood setbacks, especially in the Yoruba film industry. He related a traumatic experience in which a mentor expressed skepticism about his skills and said his career will fail in a year. Even though he was discouraged, Lateef persisted and began his career with a starring role that paid only ₦4,000.
With a long list of honors, Lateef Adedimeji is currently one of Nollywood's most renowned performers. His outstanding performance in Femi Adebayo's epic film Jagun Jagun garnered him a nomination for Best Actor at the 10th Africa Magic Viewers' Choice Awards (AMVCA).
Speaking about his journey, Lateef highlighted the critical role his wife played in his success.
“When I wanted to do my first big-screen project, Lisabi, I realized everyone I thought would stand by me was absent. But my wife was there, and she helped me stay confident,” he said.
