TEJUMOLA (EPISODE 13)

The events of the day ran through my mind as I laid my head on the window pane. David's voice reverberated across the room.

Oh, my God! I let out a gasp. What could possibly go wrong, Tejumola? I questioned myself.

I searched the beautiful moon with my eyes. Perhaps I'll find a solution there; nonetheless, the moon appears to be a complete moron.

“How do I proceed?” I scoured my brain for an answer.

Of course, fleeing is not an option. Should I drown myself or take poison?

No! I shook my head, saying, "I can't!" What happens if I do?

What would become of Eniola, save the fact that I adore her?

“Think hard, Tejumola Benson,” I advised myself.

In her sleep, Eniola stretched and turned.

She whispered as she threw the covers over her head away. I rearranged the covers to hide her correctly.

“Get out of here!” she objected

“Shhhhh, don't say anything, it's midnight!” I kept my voice low, she went back to sleep

I lay next her, attempting to sleep but failing miserably. I couldn't find it. I stared at the ceiling until the next day-break.

*************

“Mallam Adamu sannu o” I welcomed the hausa guy selling beef near my store as I opened the door to my store

I arrived late to the store because I had to go to a meeting.

Eniola's school is responsible for paying her school costs.

It's been over a week since David hasn't shown up now. Bola was, in fact, correct; he meant no risk.

As I dusted the provisions, I sighed, only God knows what my parents are going through now. Perhaps Baami has forgotten about me..

“Iya Eniola, bawoo ni” Tola's mother welcomed me.

“I came to get some soup ingredients, o.” She proclaimed while seated on a stool.

“Ah Ahn!” Mummy Tola, you should have just handed me the cash while I was on my way to shop this morning...” I stated this with concern.

“No issue o!” she exclaimed as she looked around.

“Errrm, shey, you know, Iya sikira?” She enquired

Tola the Amebo's Mummy! I gave myself a wry grin.

“Now, ehn.” “Toh! The woman is in hot water right now, o”she says.

I made a funny face, “trouble?”

“Of course! You're aware that she's expecting 15 children. Toh, the husband don impregnate her o” she concluded.

“Ehn? “How could that have happened?” I enquired clutching my chest.

“How did that happen?” Hehehe “Wonders will never cease o” I clapped my hands in a gossipy manner.

“Mummy, what do you want to buy now?” I quickly spoke up in attempt to put a halt to her bringing up a new subject.

“I wanted to tell you,” she expressed her disappointment. Iya Demola's method of murdering her husband's

“Ah Ahn, put that one on hold till I return.” “I'll be home in the evening,” I joked.

“Are you trying to get rid of me, ni?” she pretended to be irritated.

“Naaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa My store is also yours. That was how I got rid of back-biting that particular morning

I was sipping garri that afternoon when I got a call. Tola was sprinting towards the shop, her feet pounding.

Except for the socks, she was naked.

She cried, "Mummy o, Mummy Eniola oooo." hurling herself against the concrete frontage of my store's name

“Tola, ki lode?” What happen?” I enquired.

She wailed even louder, "It's Eniola oo."

My heart skipped a beat, and my hands trembled.

“What happened to my baby?” My mouth trembled.

“She….she…she…was… she…is…yeeeeee!” Tola cried even more.

Tears welled up in my eyes.

“Please speak with me, Tola... “Where has she gone?”

“Some individuals manage to catch her o... They kidnapped her.

“They got inside the car and drove away,” she said to clarify

“Yeeeee! Haaaaa! “Oh, my daughter!” My child has been taken... I was like a maniac. I threw myself into the floor, rolling from left to right, from left to right, and vice versa

“Oh, my God! ooh, Eniola! Haaaaaa! Moti ku ooo! I screamed at the top of my lungs and sobbed.

A large audience gathered, with many Ohhs and ahhs!

I leapt to my feet, ready to sprint to Eniola's school when someone grabbed my hands... With tear-streaked eyes, I turned sharply.

“David..” I muttered something.

Maybe he meant what he said at the end.

You kidnapped my daughter. “Where did you take my daughter, David?”

“Where has the baby gone?” I sobbed and shook him vigorously.

“Return my Jewel,” I gave Him a good shake more.
