As we
drove away from the hospital, David casually suggested, "Let's go to my
apartment."
This guy is completely insane! He believes I am cheap.
“No,
please return my daughter and me to my place!” I responded.
He
didn't seem to notice the passion in my voice, he softly shook his head
“It's
not that I mean any harm; it's simply that I think it's a good idea.” It's
safer to be at my house now that Akpan is gone. And the remainder have yet to
be tried in a court of law.” he attempted to explain myself.
My
emphatic response was, "No!"
“Is this
your home? “Do you mean your residence?” Eniola chirped. He smiled and nodded.
“Eniola,
be quiet!” I locked my gaze on her.
I was
truly expressing my dissatisfaction to her.
“Don't speak
to my daughter like that!” David told me, still staring at the road, in a stern
tone.
I turned
to examine his features; he was dressed in a frown.
Father,
look at this one! I was thinking to myself. Wonders will never come to an end!
I began to laugh.
David
and Eniola shifted their gaze to me, as if- Is everything okay with me?
“All
well, you'll bring your daughter with you,
Please
drop me off at my house first, but don't forget to bring
“I'll
bring her back in the evening,” I murmured, my voice hushed lighter.
I shoved
his right hand away from my lap.
“I have
something I'd want to show you…errrm…” I'd like for you to meet some folks.
“There...”
he said as he turned to face me.
“A few
people?” “Who are they?” I inquire.
“Wait
until you see them,” he said with a smile.
“Do you
think I'm safe?” I furrowed my brows.
He
brushed his palm over his face and added, "Yea, quite safe."
Simulating
an attempt to climb into my laps… I locked my gaze on him.
We were
in and out in less than twenty minutes in front of a big gate. The gatekeeper
opened the gate.
I
stepped outside and took a look around the house.
The
house was enormous, more like a mansion.
Flowers
have been used to create an elegant design.
David
has a taste for it, so I didn't expect anything less.
Things
that are significant. I was startled out of my thoughts by Eniola's guffaw
“Do you
live here?” Eniola inquired as she took a glance around.
David
swept her away off her feet and replied, "Yea baby.”
David
laughed and said, "Let's go in."
“How
about your family? Your wife and kids?” “Are they in?” I inquired on the spur
of the moment.
It
occurred to me for the first time that David was referring to a group of people
when he said, "Some folks."
It's
possible that his family consists of his wife and children.
In some
strange way, he turned to gaze at me in an amusing manner
He led
the way, saying, "Let's get in first."
I
followed at a sluggish pace because I wasn't prepared for what was about to
happen.
Any kind
of drama, o. What if his wife splashed boiling water on him?
Is there
any water on me? Or is she attempting to attack me?
“Here we
are!” David made an ecstatic gesture.
Eniola
relaxing on a sofa.
I stood
by the door, anticipating what would happen. What is going to happen next?
“David
ekabo!” Welcome.” I overheard a woman.
From the
direction of the kitchen, a voice can be heard.
I
quickly turned to see who she was.
She was
staring at me, starring at me, staring at me, staring at me, staring at me,
I couldn't decide what to do, so my jaw fell.
